About Detroit Outfit

Detroit Outfit makes original Detroit apparel. Not licensed team merch. Not a logo somebody else owns, reprinted on a cheap blank.

Wear the city, not the logo

There is a whole industry built on selling you somebody else’s trademark. Walk through any airport gift shop and you will find the same four logos on the same four garments, made by whoever won the licensing contract that year.

That is not what this is. Every design here starts as a drawing about Detroit — the street grid, the plants, the water, the 313, the word Detroiters actually use about themselves. If it needs a team’s mark to mean anything, it does not go up.

How it is made

Nothing here is mass-produced in advance. Each piece is printed or embroidered at a U.S. print facility after you order it, then shipped direct to you. That is deliberate:

• No dead stock. We are not sitting on a garage of unsold XLs, so we can put up a design because it is good rather than because it is safe.
• Heavyweight blanks. The garment is the half of this that people forget. A good design on a thin, papery shirt is a bad shirt.
• Printed, not iron-on. No peeling plastic transfer after four washes.

The trade-off is honest and worth saying out loud: made to order means there is a production step before there is a shipping step. See the shipping policy for exactly how an order moves.

What we will not do

We do not print team names, team logos, player names, or league marks. Not because we could not sell them — because they are not ours, and because a city is bigger than its franchises. Detroit Outfit is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or licensed by any sports team or league, and does not want to be.
